Trainings and Workshops

We provide training each semester for current and prospective student organization officers. Our office is also available to conduct workshops for individual organizations on topics as requested.

Fall Kickoff

Each fall semester we host the Student Organization Fall Kickoff on the Sunday before classes begin. This conference-style event covers a variety of important updates including campus reservation policies, fundraising tips, and student organization resources. Organizations are expected to send at least one officer, as well as their treasurer if the group would like to apply for funding from the Student Government Association during the year.

Student Organization Aspiring Officer Lab

The Student Organization Aspiring Officer Lab is designed to prepare organization members for a leadership role within ECU student organizations. Attendees can choose between three tracks – membership, finance, and mission. All tracks include information on how to effectively prepare to transition your role to the next person.

Officer Meetings

Regular meetings are held throughout the fall and spring semesters for organization leaders to discuss current issues and ongoing needs of student clubs.

New Presidents Meeting

Each April after most organizations have conducted elections for the following school year, newly elected presidents are expected to attend the New Presidents Meeting. At this meeting, we provide information on the expectations of student organizations, resources available for presidents and their clubs, and trainings on how to effectively lead a student organization at ECU.

Advisor Training

Many of our student groups have faculty or staff advisors and we are happy to support these dedicated mentors with special workshops at our regular events. We also host roundtable discussions and trainings for advisors and are available to answer questions at any time.
